Why you should exfoliate your skin?

Who doesn’t want a healthy radiant complexion? That fresh luminous glow comes from having a consistent skincare routine and taking good care of your skin daily and weekly. As part of your weekly skincare routine you should be exfoliating your skin. You can use store bought exfoliators or go right into your kitchen and find skin friendly ingredients.

WHY EXFOLIATE YOUR SKIN?
Your skin cells turn over every 30 days, so in order to prevent build-up of dead cells, which can contribute to clogged pores and a dull, lackluster complexion you should be exfoliating your skin regularly. For best results, exfoliate your skin 1-3 times per week depending on your skin type.

NATURAL INGREDIENTS FROM YOUR KITCHEN TO YOUR SKIN
Honey or yogurt is excellent to use as a natural way to gently exfoliate your skin. They both contain natural lactic acid that gently exfoliates the skin. Honey in particular is good for dissolving those little stubborn white heads underneath the skin, known as milia. Apply a dab daily for 14-30 days and it will help push it out of the skin.

TYPES OF EXFOLIATORS
There are many types of exfoliators you can use on your skin. You can choose from  physical scrubs, enzyme peels, lactic acids, glycolic acids, salicylic acids and jojoba beads. When buying commercial exfoliators always make sure to choose a good brand. And always test it first on your skin before using it on your whole face to make sure you don’t have a reaction to the product. Putting a dime size on your neck is a good way to test the product.

INGREDIENTS TO WATCH OUT FOR
Watch out for the ingredient, polyethylene in store bought exfoliators as that is a plastic micro-bead that has been found to pollute the ocean water.
