Bieler's Broth for Spring Skin Detox!

Spring Skin Detox!

Spring has arrived and so with it the perfect time to do a detox and replenish the skin.

With all the new blooms of Springtime comes allergies that is often accompanied by skin inflammation which can cause increased sensitivity, irritated and flaky skin.

We sometimes forget that our skin is our largest organ. This means that whatever is going on internally in our bodies in addition to what is going on environmentally affects both the health and texture of our skin.

One gentle skin detox that you can do to support your skin during this change of season is a green soup that I recently discovered called Dr. Bieler’s Broth. It’s been around forever and sooo good for you. I can’t believe I didn’t know about it until now. It’s very simple to make and contains only 4 ingredients that are packed with healthy vitamins and nutrients for the body. It’s a super restorative and healing soup that alkalizes the body and balances your digestive system which in response has a positive effect for your complexion.

Dr. Bieler’s Broth Ingredients

2 cups zucchini, sliced

2 cups string beans, ends removed

2 stalks celery, chopped

1 handful curly parsley

3 cups of water

Dr. Bieler’s Broth Recipe

Add all cleaned and prepped vegetables, preferably organic; into a medium sized pot. Add water and bring to a boil. Let vegetables simmer for 10 min. Throw in the parsley and let sit a few minutes to cool down. Pour into a food blender and blend it until the soup is creamy. Then reheat however much you want on the stove.  If you have a Vitamix with a soup setting, put it on that - it makes it super delicious and extra creamy. You may find that it’s a bit bland to your taste. If so you can add butter or ghee but as this is meant to be a detoxifying and alkalizing broth I wouldn’t add any salt or other condiments to flavor it. Also, play around with how much water you like for consistency. Some recipes call for 4 cups of water. I prefer it like this.

Dr. Bieler was a physician to the stars in Hollywood, a pioneer of alternative medicine and author of the book: "Food is Your Best Medicine." If you look him up, you'll find that there are so many incredible stories of people with all kinds of ailments that he has helped treat with his broth.

I actually love having Dr. Bieler’s Broth if I’ve been traveling a lot or been too busy that I have neglected my usual routine. It’s a great way to get back on track and reset my body!

Also, the liver is such a hard-working organ. It could use a little rest once in a while. The liver has to process all the toxins that we are exposed to through foods, environmentally or from products that we apply on the skin everyday. So in order to obtain a healthy and glowing complexion, it is important to take extra care of the liver!

Having a beautiful complexion not only means having a good skincare routine but also being aware of what you put in your body. Feeding your body with healthy nutritious foods is as important as using the appropriate products for your skin type.  To learn more about what skin type you are, click here:

Keep enjoying Spring, and remember that if you do decide to do a Spring detox… drink tons of water so that you are not overwhelming your system. Detoxing without replenishing with enough hydration can cause your skin to break out in rashes or little pimples! After all your skin is your organ of elimination.
